Can I use minoxidil for thickening my hair?

I know that minoxidil works great for baldness. My head isn't bald but my hair density isn't as thick as I'd like it to be. Can I use minoxidil in order to increase my hair density?

Answer 1:

Use Nioxin shampoo and conditioner, system 2. I swear by this stuff. It is well known for getting rid of DHT and thickening your hair. I have been using it since 02. Get the 1 liter bottles on Ebay. Much less expensive.

Should the minoxidil topical solution be washed off after each application on the scalp,or can the second appl?

I have been using minoxidil topical solution from the past 3 days, twice daily for 4hrs,i want to know if the scalp needs to be cleansed after each application in order to remove the previous dose.

Answer 1:

I think you leave it on for the 4 hours but you could wash your scalp in between treatments.

What are the opinions on the anti balding drug minoxidil?

I'm about to enter my 30's but my head has started balding quite rapidly.. I've heard about minoxidil but am worried that it will come with some "fun" side effects. Is it safe to play with my health or just suffer in silence?

Answer 1:

Stop being a ****, shave your head! It will look cool, we dont live in the 70's where baldness was embarrassing, it's cool to be follickly challenged. Forget the drugs, you were meant to lose your hair, look at the actors that went bald naturally and compare them to the toupee'd ones, looks much more natural

Answer 2:

No side affects for me - been using it for ten years.
Follow the directions EXACTLY.
Use the dropper not the spray. It has to reach your scalp -- not your hair.

It wont STOP hair loss...... but it'll slow it quite amazingly.

Answer 3:

Minoxidil has been very effective and safe, although you should speak to your doctor about any concerns. It does take as much as 3 months to see results, and once you stop using the minoxidil, it is very likely the hair will fall out again.

Answer 4:

Minoxidil (generic of Rogaine) is really pretty safe. I tried it for a while, but while there was hair regrowth, it was very fine and colorless. Doctors say that a combination of Propecia (oral tablets) and Rogaine applied topically will achieve the best results. It is the Propecia, however, that is linked (in very few cases) to erectile dysfunction.

I gave up and went for the razor. I get much better responses from the women.

Answer 5:

It is fairly effective.Side effect it grows unwanted hair on other parts.Vitamins containing Zinc(Zevit) is useful in promoting hairgrowth.Regain hair soltion is good. But first you have to ensure there is infection in scalp.

Answer 6:

Well, they taught us in med-school that minoxidil really does work because it stimulates your hair growth. And it will reduce your blood-pressure as well. As for the side effects... you may grow hair in other body parts...

Answer 7:

Dont mess with it.
I'm not losing hair, but started going grey aged 13!
Loads of people advised me to colour it, but I never have.
Whether you want to call it God or nature or whatever, that's how your hair comes out of your head (or doesn't - sorry) so that's how it's meant to be.
Just don't have a comb-over or leave the sides on EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
