How badly will stripping the color out of my hair damage it?
I dye my hair red every few months or so. I want to start dying it black but if I get sick of it I would want to strip the black out of it and probably dye it red it again. I have thick, wavy hair, and it's not really dry or anything. I just wanna know if stripping it will damage my hair a lot. If so, I don't wanna dye it black...
Also, if I get it done professionally, how expensive would it be?
Answer 1:
you know the first thing i tell my customers when they come to me wanting their hair black or even a dark brown, is that you need to be 100% sure that this is what you want. stripping it will damage it very badly, if you can be patient you could just buy a clarifying shampoo and let it fade out on it's own. big decision!!!! good luck
Answer 2:
Mine was $200 for cut, strip, dye & highlights.
And I'm NEVER doing it again.
I went from brown to blonde, and it got so, so, SO damaged.
Ugh.
How badly will bleaching my hair damage it?
I have naturally very, very dark brown hair. I want to dye all of it fire truck red and I know that in order to get that color, I will need to bleach it. How badly will bleaching damage my hair? I recently cut a lot off to make it healthy and I don't want to completely fry it.
Answer 1:
Okay, first of all, make sure you get it WHITE when you bleach it so it comes out red...but yeah it will probably dry your hair out a little...all u gotta do is get a little Infusium 80. You can find it at your beauty supply store, or if it's super dry and crispy, get a hot oil treatment, those almost always work, I've seen my mom (A hair dresser) use these things on the most unrepairable hair.
-OR-
You can start by dying it light blond, and work your way up, waiting at the very least 2 weeks (or more for better results! you don't wanna kill your hair follicles!) before you dye it again to let it recover. Work your way up to lighter blonds and then when you get to platinum, go red! I would ask your hair dresser though, because she'll know what kind of hair you have and how healthy it is, and if it can handle it.
Answer 2:
im not fully sure, but im pretty sure it does little to no serious damage
the worst ive seen happen, is after frequent use of it, later in life ur hair isn't quite as like soft an ****, but its not like super hard either, so i dont think its a huge problem
besides i know LOADS of people who have done that, and i dont know any that have had real hair problems
Answer 3:
It will really fry your hair. My advise is put a little bit of bleach is your shampoo at a time. That way it will get lighter without really bleaching it all at once.
Answer 4:
it will break off waaay easier if you use any hot tools
How much does coloring your hair damage it?
My hair is naturally black and I want to dye it a medium brown. It is not as thick as it used to be so I don't want it to fall out from coloring it.
Will coloring it just a few shades lighter than my natural color damage it and cause it to fall out?
Answer 1:
you CAN NOT get brown hair from black hair with out lighting it.. it is not possible. and any time you put chemicals on your hair it will damage the cuticle. the more often you do it the more damgaed it will be
any more question feel free to ask
Answer 2:
that depends. in your case I wouldn't advise it.
I doubt it will make it fall out entirely but probably turn it to straw and clumpy. It's horrible, my hair never went back and I am still growing it out. I never bleached it either.
Answer 3:
Don't color your hair once a month and it'll be fine. The average person looses 50 to 100 strands of hair a day and it's totally normal.
Answer 4:
hair nautrally falls out
you shouldnt have any problems with it
just dont do it regularly :)
How to fix and prevent swim team hair damage?
I'm on swim team, swimming 6 days a week.
My hair was cut about 3 weeks ago but my ends are already splitting.
I'm not planning on straightening my hair for the rest of the season, but I need to know how to prevent chlorine damage.
I deep condition, I only wash my hair 2 times a week but always condition.
Also, If you know any cute styles for slightly wavy hair without straightening or blowdrying, I would love to hear them.
Answer 1:
Redken makes awesome products to put on your hair before swimming or going out in the sun... www.redken.com You need to wash the chlorine out with shampoo every time after you swim not only twice a week when you are swimming 6 times a week. Use a good clarifying shampoo and a protien conditioner Check out the website
Answer 2:
Just get clarifying shampoo
Answer 3:
If you are swimming, shampoo after swimming to remove the chlorine. Herbal Essences Hello Hydration or Break's Over are really moisturizing and smell great. Swim with a swim cap, and try Fructis's Long & Strong Leave-In conditioner in the spherical pump bottle.
For waves, pin up sections with jeweled clips.
Answer 4:
I used Vo5 hot oil two time a week. They should be at most stores/ Walmart ext.
I have slightly wavy hair too. I lightly scrunk with mousse but being on the swim team I would try not putting stuff in your hair. Try hot oil two time a week and you will be happy;)
Answer 5:
They make a shampoo to use after you swim that is specially formulated to remove the chlorine from your hair to prevent damage, unlike regular shampoo. It is chelating shampoo. You can find may different brands if you look it up.
Also, coat your hair in a very moisturizing conditioner and then put on a swim cap. This will help reduce damage too.
Answer 6:
if you wet your hair with fresh water before getting it wet in the chlorine, your hair will absorb the fresh water first and wont absorb the chlorine as much
Answer 7:
oooohmigosh! i know xactly what to do. once i had my hair bleach blonde colored, and it turned green! so our neighbor suggested this shampoo from Sally's Beauty Co. and it got rid of green, chlorine damage and the chlorine smell!! it was awesome.
after you wash your hair towel dry then put in some Garnier Sleek&Shine Serum from walmart (like $3) and run it through hair. your hair will dry quicker than usually and it will lighten it and enhance natural highlights. even when your hair gets wet your hair will still be shiny and beautiful.
Does bleaching your hair damage it a lot?
I have medium brown hair and i want to go blonde. I tried dying it but it didn't really work. How badly will bleaching my hair damage it? I am only planning on bleaching it once.
Answer 1:
I just checked several websites and it seems that bleaching does damage your hair: it makes it more fragile and drier and very difficult to dye another color. If done improperly it can even cause your hair to fall out. It is highly recommended that you get professional hair stylist to do it properly - there will still be some damage, but not as much as doing it yourself would likely do. During the process of growing it back out again to your natural color, you will have 2 tones: first just the "roots" then more and more - halfway through it can look pretty funny!! Anyway, it really is best to get a professional to do it: if you do it yourself you can really do some bigtime damage quite easily, while a professional job only damages it about half that on the average, by comparison. Be aware that even with a pro job, you'll have to keep it moist carefully, or else you'll get a lot of split ends and stuff.
Answer 2:
Bleached hair that is slightly damaged will feel dry or rough to the touch and may require extra applications of deep and leave-in conditioning products.
Damage to the hair during bleaching is decreased if contact time with the actual bleach chemicals are reduced. Therefore heat is often applied to speed the chemical reaction. The heat may be moist heat applied by use of a steamer or dry heat through the use of infra-red lamps.
The only bad thing is it will only last but so long before you need to redo your roots. Good luck!
Answer 3:
basically bleaching your hair is like deep frying it! so much damage to your hair, and theirs no way to repair it, if you bleached it the first time and it didn't come out nice it's going to be hard to turn blonde! i would just go to a salon they know what to do. it's expensive but at least you wont go bold!
Answer 4:
Yes it will damage it either way, it's striping your natural oils from your hair.
Get a deep conditioner, aussie 3 minute miracle.
Hot oil treatments
And you should be fine:)
Answer 5:
why do you want to go blonde, it will make you look dumber, ohhh and it will **** up your hair for the rest of your life.............. dont do it
Answer 6:
if you only are planning to do it once then it shouldnt hurt your hair that bad... your hair might become dryer and you could potentially get some dandruff... otherwise just make sure you use the right kind of hair dye to prevent further damage
Answer 7:
I don't think it will really get damaged if you take care of it, like the right shampoo's and stuff like that. And you could get help from a stylist, and they'll tell you how to take care of it!
Good Luck!
Answer 8:
it depends, but generally it damages hair pretty much and dries a lot, but if you use a good (professional, such as joico deep penetrating reconstructor) deep conditioner it might be ok.
Answer 9:
Not too badly, depending on the condition it was in originally. If you permed it, bleaching can really damage it.
Answer 10:
it wont hurt your hair if you do it once but if you do it alot then it will. make sure you use good shampoo's and bits to take care of it!
Answer 11:
bleaching hair to much makes it look fried. idk if doing it another time will make it look like that. but i would say dont take the risk to ruin beautiful hair
Answer 12:
it does but I've bleached my hair a lot and but hairs still fine.
